Histoire de la conquete spatiale US - conseils

Après lecture de livres divers et variés de fiction comme Seul Sur Mars ou plus ou moins autobiographiques comme ceux d'Aldrin ou de Lovell, j'aimerais me pencher sur l'histoire de la conquete spatiale et notamment revenir aux sources en passant en revue Mercury, Gemini et Apollo.
Si vous connaissez de bons livres sur ces sujets ... anglais ou français, je suis preneur !!

Quand tu dis Hardcore, c'est qu'on est dans le tout technique ?
Moi je penche plus pour quelque chose de plus autobio ou alors simplement historique ;)

Le "hardcore", cela peut vouloir dire de la technique (les bouquins de chez Apogee Books le sont- faut VRAIMENT avoir envie de les lire - vu que ce sont des reproductions de documents officiels) ou l'anglais utilisé. Les livres de la NASA sont des ouvrages universitaires et ce n'est pas le langage de CNN ou Skynews (ou si vous lisez The Economist, par exemple). Cela demande un effort (et le dico à côté parfois) mais je suppose que c'est une question d'habitute.
J'ai un petit faible pour les bouquins de chez Springer-Praxis, par exemple, pour Apollo (mais il y a beaucoup d'autres titres- une série sur les vols Gemini est en cours- il y a 143 bouquins sur l'espace! http://www.praxis-publishing.co.uk/books.php):

Bon, j'ai (beaucoup) trop de bouquins et bien évidemment je n'ai pas tout lu (je n'y arriverai sans doute jamais!). Je garde cependant un excellent souvenir de celui-ci, sur Apollo:
CHAIKIN A. A Man on the Moon: The voyages of the Apollo astronauts Viking 1994
Si tu arrives à mettre la main sur la version grand format en 3 volumes avec coffret, c'est le top! (exemple: https://www.amazon.com/Man-Moon-Volumes-Continues-Explorers/dp/B001JKOBMS/)
J'ai un petit faible pour les bouquins de chez Springer-Praxis, par exemple, pour Apollo (mais il y a beaucoup d'autres titres- une série sur les vols Gemini est en cours- il y a 143 bouquins sur l'espace! http://www.praxis-publishing.co.uk/books.php):

Les bouquins plus abordables, du point de vue de la langue, j'ai lu les premiers volumes de Outwards Odyssey- University of Nebraska Press (voir: https://www.nebraskapress.unl.edu/series/outward-odyssey-a-peoples-history-of-spaceflight/ ) Exemple:
