:: 08.03.2010
Ministry of Transport of Russia obliged to equip a means of air navigation services system GLONASS or GLONASS / GPS.
Order this, signed by the Minister Igor Levitin, will enter into force on 16 March.
It is envisaged that the national satellite navigation equipment must be equipped with means to provide time synchronization automated air traffic services, radio systems to ensure safety, aviation and telecommunications objective control, automated flight control of air-space search and rescue, and so on.
In the ministry believe that the installation of Russia's system will increase security and efficiency of air traffic services.
According to The 2008 decree, equipped GLONASS or GLONASS / GPS aircraft are subject to the state, civil and experimental aircraft. In 2010, the Federal Program "Global Navigation System" from the Treasury should be allocated 580 million rubles.
Recall that the first GLONASS satellites were launched in the early 80's, but after adjustment designed primarily for the military system was the de facto destroyed. New Agenda for a global navigation system adopted in 2001, and by early 2008, it had to provide identification of the location of objects on the entire territory of Russia, and by 2010 - to become a worldwide navigation aid. However, so far never managed to launch the required number of satellites.
According to statements of Chapter Federal Space Agency Anatoly Perminov, the precision positioning system GLONASS will be higher than that of the U.S. system - this year it should grow to 5.5 meters, and by 2011 - up to 2,8 meters. While the accuracy of GPS, typically ranges from 5 to 15 meters.
