L'établissement de la journée de la cosmonautique en URSS puis en Russie: cela a été décidé le 9 avril 1962 puis le 13 mars 1995 respectivement.
Cosmonautics Day: 50 years of establishment
50 years ago April 9, 1962 in commemoration of the world's first manned flight into space, Yuri Gagarin perfect April 12, 1961 on a spaceship "Vostok", signed the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the celebration of Cosmonautics Day.

Later, according to the protocol (Section 17) of the 61st General Conference of the International Aeronautical Federation, held in November 1968, and the decision of the International Aeronautical Federation, adopted by the thirtieth April 1969, on presentation of the Federation of Aviation Sports of the USSR in the day was celebrated on April 12 World Day of Aviation and Astronautics.
But after nearly half a century, April 7, 2011 at a special plenary session of the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution officially proclaiming April 12 the International Day of manned space flight. Co-authors of the resolution are more than 60 countries.
In the Russian Federation of Cosmonautics Day is marked in accordance with Article 1.1 of the Federal Law of March 13, 1995 № 32-FZ "On the days of military glory and the anniversaries of Russia."
